 One verification, global market access

Mutual Recognition Agreements

A Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) is a formal partnership between two Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) program operators. This is based on a rigorous technical audit of General Programme Instructions, Product Category Rules (PCRs) and verification standards to ensure that both program operators follow the same methodological framework and quality controls. This allows an EPD published by one operator to be officially recognized by the other program operator.

In this way, MRAs are used to break down geographic barriers and avoid inefficiencies by:

  • Eliminating Redundancy: Manufacturers avoid the financial and administrative burden of undergoing multiple separate verification processes for different national databases.

  • Global Market Speed: Cross-border data acceptance drastically reduces time-to-market for businesses expanding internationally.

  • Interoperable Data Standards: Our MRAs ensure that localized life cycle assessment (LCA) data flows seamlessly into broader international frameworks, digital tools, and building BIM software.

At EPD Hub, we are actively expanding our global network of MRAs to ensure that when you publish an EPD with us, it gains immediate, friction-free recognition across international markets, green public procurement systems, and leading building certification schemes worldwide.
